Why We Built This Colfax Reference
Colfax County uses a court-centered process rather than a public Sheriff warrant roster. County Court handles traffic, city and village ordinance, infraction, misdemeanor, juvenile, and felony preliminary-hearing matters. The District Court clerk keeps felony trial and domestic-relations records. The Sheriff serves and returns process and answers custody questions. Nebraska JUSTICE is a statewide case-search fallback, not a live warrant database.
Those distinctions can be hard to see from a single search result. The pages here group the official contacts, fees, limits, forms, and city routes so a reader can identify the right custodian before making a call or written request.
What You Will Find Here
- Search route: how to use Nebraska JUSTICE, read the register of actions, and confirm the result.
- Court roles: how County Court and the District Court clerk divide traffic, ordinance, felony, and contempt records.
- Service route: what the Colfax County Sheriff publishes about legal process, jail, and custody questions.
- City profiles: local context for Schuyler, Clarkson, Howells, Leigh, and Rogers without inventing municipal portals.
- Access rules: how CC 3:29 and Nebraska Public Records Statutes fit a narrow records request.
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately operated reference. It is not connected to Colfax County, Nebraska courts, the Sheriff, a city, or a state agency.
- We cannot run an official warrant check or confirm a current status.
- We cannot recall, quash, clear, or remove a court order.
- We cannot set a hearing, arrange a surrender, post bond, or accept payment.
- We cannot give legal advice about a particular case.
- We cannot promise that a case-search result is complete or current.
Only the issuing court can control recall, bond, hearing, and disposition instructions. The Sheriff can answer service or holding questions.
Official Sources and Search Partners
Research is based on official county, city, Nebraska Judicial Branch, Nebraska Legislature, Nebraska Attorney General, Nebraska State Patrol, and U.S. Marshals materials identified on each page. Links lead to the source that supports a contact, fee, rule, form, or process. A private search widget may appear on content pages, but it is not an official court search and does not change the source hierarchy.
Information can change. Verify with the originating court or Sheriff before acting.
